I was hoping to get some help with my rashes. I used to get them but noticed if I gradually get my skin used to the sun a little at a time I don't get them as much. However, this year I went to visit a friend in Texas, I live in the midwest, I got one again. I tried my normal, taking benedryl and using aloe gel but it isn't working this time. I am wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

First off, to Jennifer - not to scare you, but a butterfly-shaped rash on your face could be a sign of lupus. See your doctor or a rheumatologist to have yourself tested.

Now for my own comments - I have had the problem of sun rash for a number of years and am fighting off scratching as I write this, having been in the sun to get a tan within the last week. I have the rash all over my chest and upper arms, and to a lesser degree on my back. Oddly, my legs, which have been exposed the same amount of time, do not show the rash at all. Peculiar, at least to me. At any rate, I've taken a variety of antidepressants for most of the last ten years and found out through my own study that the antifungal griseofulvin (Grisactin) is also a potential source of sun sensitivity. Call me old, old-fashioned, reckless (because of the known risks of sun exposure), stubborn or any combination of the above, but I look better with a tan and love to go to the beach so I'm just gonna ride it out when it happens. I have found that generous application of plain old over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream does a lot of good. Considering that it's an allergy I'm also going to try taking 25-50mg of Benadryl before going out and see if that helps.

Can anybody tell me if what I am getting is a for of heat rash?? After being out in the car and garden in some srious sun, the bak of my hands seem to have little raised lumps, similar to gnat bites on thme. they feel hot, and do itch, They almost look like little small warts, but clear ? They have come up before, and it is after spending time in the sun>? Do they go of their own accord?

I don't remember the brand but once on vacation I bought a sun tan cream at 7-11 and I got a really bad suntan lotion rash being at the beach all day and re-applying it. I'm pretty sure that's what caused the rash because I didn't put any on my back and never broke out there.

I've been getting heat rashes for over 3 years now and i think it may be from birth control pills too. That was how long i was on them for. I can't tan at all in the summer because i would get them everywhere on my body. I've been going to the doctor and all the medications did not help me at all. So now i will have to see a dermatologist and see what they can do or ill try staying off the birth control pills or switch the pills.

My cousin got a sun poisoning rash and she was at the beach on a day that was cloudy a lot of the day. But she also was taking birth control pills so maybe she had a reaction from the medication with the sun exposure.

My friend takes an anti-depressant and gets a sun rash when she's out for a while exposed to sun. It's too bad because she really needs to take it for her moods. My husband's co-worker gets weird raised blisters when he's out in sun during peak hours. I think it is sun poisoning and not prickly heat. I love the sun so would be so bummed if I couldn't be out in summer.

My daughter had an amoxicillin rash. It showed as a sun rash after the beach but maybe she would've gotten it anyway too. It took a few weeks to clear up and we were quite scared.
