Probiotics for Eczema Rash: Adding Good Bacteria To Your Diet
Taking antibiotics can rob the body of good bacteria and some people notice they get a rash or yeast infection after an infection. Keep in mind that you may have a drug rash which is an allergic reaction to a medication such as penicillin. But, if that is not the case, your body may be having an imbalance of the proper intestinal flora which can result in candida or an itchy skin rash. What are probiotics?
Known as the “good bacteria”, probiotics are important to digest our foods, keep the immune system strong and for staying healthy. When you take an antibiotic, both the good and the bad bacteria are killed. Obviously , we want to kill the infection, but we don’t want to lose the good bacteria as well. Some experts say that by taking probioitcs we can handle various foods that we may otherwise have an allergic response to.
Good bacteria are bifidus, acidopholous anc lactobacillus. You can get these in the health food store in the refrigerated section. Some studies have shown that infants eczema problems were greatly relieved after a 4 week course with this. Eating yogurt with live cultures as helpful. Be aware that most supermarket brands of yogurt have sugar which can encourage yeast or fungi infections.
In addition to yogurt, you can also find good bacteria or probiotics in miso and cottage cheese. The probiotics don’t only help with digestion but also can assist the body’s absorption of vitamin B.







When my daughter gets a bacterial infection she gets some red spots on her arm so I see some connection here. Not sure if this is atopic eczema or something else.
In those commercials for activa they talk about good bacteria and probiotics. I am thinking this is same thing and it can help different problems from skin rashes to digestion .
