I know what you mean about the dog giving humans scabies. My daugter, granddaughter and I all have this crap! We went to the Dr. and received the news and our precription. We were told by the Dr. that regardless of what we've read or been told...you can not get scabies from anything other than human! I do not agree at all. Only
until we adopted a pup who's mother had the mange and the pup develoed the mange. The pup was the culprit....

My son got scabies from his day care but no one else in house got it. My wife is a fanatic about hand gel and cleaning so maybe that helped it from spreading between all of us. The itching rash though was really not fun for our son and we didn't want him on antihistamines during the day.

My children have both gotten scabies ( I'm not sure where?) We hav recently been on a cruise ( about a month ago) so it's possible they were infected with hotel bed sheets etc...HOWEVER my daughter did have scabies in August and we treated her with 5% permethrin cream as well as the whole family at the time- now it's almost 5 months since - is it possible we never got rid of them in the first place??? I find it odd how both my kids developed the same rash on the exact same day..does anyone have any thoughts

I got scabies from my job. My four children also got the nasty thing. It is horrible. I do not wish this on anyone. Good luck to anyone with this. The only advice I have is to wash everything and clean everything that you even think you touched or came into contact with.

I had the scabies rash and I got the infection from my DOG. yep you heard me my dog, all these websites that says you cannot get this from your pet has lost their mind. Me nor my girlfriend had this crap before we got the mangy chihuahua puppy, we had the pup for a week b4 we knew she had Sarcoptic Mange caused by the Sarcoptes Scabiei mite which happens to be the same mite that causes Scabies in humans. You cannot nor will not get rid of those bugs with lice cream it is not strong enough!!! I was prescribed Elimite 5(generic is 5% permethrin cream in a 60gm tube) and it costed $34 for it. I immediately went home that afternoon and rubbed down from neck to toe in this cream and my girlfriend did the same eventhough she didn't have the rash....we took the sheets off the bed and washed them in hot water everyday for 3 days straight, washed every last stich of laundry that we had worn in the past 2-3 days in hot water. Sprayed the couch and chair and bed mattress down with the lice bedding spray containing permethrin as advised by pharmicist and went one step further by spraying and vacuuming my carpets and immediately throwing away the bag.....this is a creepy infection to have and the itching does not stop immediately. I have found one comfort and am drying up the pimple like sores as well by rubbing down in 91% rubbing alcohol after showers. It relieves the itching slightly and aids in the healing of the sores as well. Good Luck to everyone in this battle and I hope to never get this stuff again.

DO you know if scabies treatment ivermectin works instead of the cream? Is there a over the counter scabies treatment you can get without a prescription like for lice?

I am sure poor countries can't afford expensive prescriptions so maybe that natural approach book does work because what do they use in other countries to get rid of the bugs? Did that person tell you what is in the book about the natural cure for scabies?

Reply to Leanne R. If you don't want scabies, which you probably have, if your boyfriend does. Suck it up and use the cream, oh well if its a pesticide.I would use almost anything to rid my skin of bugs as quick as possible. If its mild enough for use on small children and babies, then I think my adult body can handle it!!!

It is good to see a picture of scabies because I wasn't sure. My ex-boyfriend thought he had a scabies rash because he had little red pimples on his right hip. Will I get it? I heard the scabies cream lotion is a pesticide and I am against pesticides.
