Nummular Eczema - Red and Itchy

I was scared to show my dermatologist my rash, but it was so itchy and bizarre looking I really had no choice.  It was all over my lower back, a little bit over my hips and a bit on my upper butt. Some were red circles , others looked like welts. I needed a benadryl at bedtime and then one around 2 am when the itchiness woke me up.

My dermatologist said I couldn’t scare him and when he looked at it, he immediately identified it as nummular eczema. The biopsy I had a week ago said that that it could lead to erythema multiforme minor, but this dermatologist said it wasn’t that but definitely nummular dermatitis.

Ok great, I had a name, now what. He advised to use only luke warm water, use dove unscented soap, moisturize 2x a day with aquaphor or cetaphil and also use the corizone prescription twice a day. After a few days I did notice a huge improvement though I had a small flare up 10 days later which now is going down. According to the internet, this can be a chronic condition so I’m trying to find out the triggers and really keep a diary. This whole experience has made me very interested in understanding rashes as I see they can look very similar and that google images can give you 4 or 5 diagnoses for the skin rash you have.
