Lupus Rash:Skin Lupus
The lupus rash is characterized by a rash across cheeks and nose in shape
of a butterfly.Lupus is an autoimmune disease and there is both the systemic and discoid varieties.The rash often recurs and it can also be on scalp, chest,back and feet. The butterfly rash on the face has a red tint to it.
Some people won’t have the rash across their face but will have the lupus
rash on the butt. It can be itchy so try to avoid scratching it. If the rash
it is in your scalp, it can lead to hair loss. The malar rash can be flat or
raised.
In the discoid form, the skin may scale and marks may result in scarring.
Sun exposure aggravates the problem so please be conscious of that. There can lso be a reaction to chemicals so be aware of what you use in your laundry and personal hygiene products. Ninety percent of people with lupus are women. It isn’t contagious but may run in families.The discoid form of lupus can result in skin lesions that may appear like rosacea, fungal infections, sarcoidosis, seborrhea, dermatomyositis. This is why seeing a doctor is important.
If you have systemic lupus (also called SLE) , you may be tired and additionally have joint pain. Blood work can be taken to help diagnose it and differentiate it from other similar rash appearances.
About half of the people with lupus have lung complications including chest
pain, inflammation and shortness of breath. Also about 50 percent of people
struck by lupus develop anemia so keep a watch in this.







what can be used to get rid of butterfly rash
Been wondering that too! I think I’ve done every expensive thing on the market and nothing seemed to work…Is there some kind of cream (beside hydrocortisone) that will actually diminish this scar? Mine’s huge!!!
