Steve,

When you use permethrin it is not recommended to use it every other day. Dermatologists may suggest a 2nd treatment a week later, but many just use one treatment. This is a strong pesticide and should not be used that frequently.

For those that have scabies you will get worse itching at night and in the shower. Permethrin 5% is the best thing you can use for scabies treatment. All tho it's an expensive cream i almost paid $50 for mine but will help kill the parasites. ADVICE: The first time you use the cream you will itch ALOT but don't wait another week to use the cream try to use it almost every other day and you will see how much better you'll feel!!!

This is driving me insane! About 2 weeks back I started getting these rashes on my hands. Itchy like all hell! First just figured it was a more typical rash and would go away, but it didn't! They're still here! So, I freaked out and threw my carpet and bed out thinking it was bedbugs. But, I was still itching, no matter where I went. Slept in a different house, got bit! Got a new bed, got bit! I went to the doctor just yesterday, she couldn't diagnose me with either bedbugs nor scabies. I knew more about both subjects that her! She gave me a cream for scabies. I'm still itchy though, but supposedly that's normal for the medicine. I won't know for weeks whether it actually works. I haven't found any bedbugs yet, but I've been searching like crazy. I know how well they hide, so I'm sooo paranoid that it might infact be them. I'm praying that it's scabies, so that way I can have a fighting chance against getting rid of them!

If your itching so bad that you bleed or you itch bad at night and in the shower then most likely you have scabies. They love the warmth, so in that case all snuggly and warm will make you itch more. Go see your doctor and get the treatment. Usually one treatment is curable.

When my ex-boyfriend had scabbies he was constantly itchy and it didn't stop for at least a month after he used the cream for the mites. He was an emotional basket case. Itching can really make you a wreck.

I heard that the scabicidal cream is effective but sadly due to the cost a lot of people can't afford it. This is sad and maybe there will be some health care reform to benefit contagious skin disease control.

It says that they do skin scrapings to test for scabies at dermatologist offices but my friend went and they said they don't do that there. I wonder if it's because it's contagious and they are concerned themselves about infestations.
