How to Reduce Stress When You Have An Itchy Red Rash
Some people get a rash or itching completely due to stress and others find that though the cause is not stress, stress will aggravate it. One thing my dermatologist told me was to not spend time at google images making myself crazy! It is so true. When I was told I had nummular eczema, I looked it up and it said there is no cure , it is chronic and that some lesions MAY resolve within a year! Since I was covered all over my lower back and butt this was very scary to read. It turns out though that my diagnose may not be nummular eczema but it can be a yeast/fungus situation. The biopsy is not back yet for my 3rd spot.
Well I’ve been working on ways to stay calm. I love yoga and meditation but find it hard to do yoga when I’m itchy. However, with meditation, I do find that helps as I can get detached a bit and watch my mind and the melodramas it puts me through.
I also get perspective thinking of those with serious illnesses that may require surgery or be wheelchair bound etc. A rash is not life threatening and however uncomfortable itching is, I can work, take walks and function.
I’ve been exhaling more slowly and this seems helpful. I also try to hold my breath forĀ a few seconds after inhalation (suspended breathing in yoga).
For music, I like Krishna Das, looking at Youtube to see some concerts I’ve missed and playing some cds of James Taylor.
Looking at nature helps me too. I find taking a walk around a local lake comforting and hearing the birds. Find three or four ways to reduce your stress and have confidence you will get to the root of the problem whether through traditional medicine, homeopathy, Chinese medicine or another path.
