While searching for the reason for my rash (which I think is was the dreaded fire ants), I did come across something called Dermatitis Herpetiformis described as follows: "small blisters usually develop gradually, mostly on the elbows, knees, buttocks, lower back, and the BACK OF THE HEAD." Hope that helps.

I think I may have fire ant bites on my scalp...that ever happen to anyone? Is it unlikely to have been bitten in my sleep on my scalp? I have med lenght hair. Even a Dr I saw couldn't tell me for sure but I have clusters of bumps of varying sizes on my scalp that hurt, sting, itch. Anyone have any ideas?

I too was bit by fire ants and still have the rash from it today; over 10 months ago. I have been treated with topical antibiotic creams and oral prescription medications, but nothing seems to work. The itch drives me crazy and now I am having periodic pain in my legs with black and blue dots that follow!

My sister was attacked by fire ants when we were in the back cleaning up. They really were itchy and she is not someone to complain generally. The benadryl got the red inflammation down but it took a few days more to really heal. They can really sting.
