My Kid Has Chicken Pox: Dealing with the Pox
Chicken pox is a common disease in childhood and also highly contagious. Shingles or herpes zoster (technically known as varciella zoster) is the dormant virus and if someone has shingles, it is important to not be around an infant or child who never had chicken pox. After chicken pox, the virus remains in your body for the rest of your life. This means that in the future you may have a reactivation that results in shingles rash. Sometimes a child will come home from school with a rash and parents will immediately believe it’s scabies, but it’s important to see if chicken pox has been an issue at school and to contact the teacher first before using a treatment based on the wrong diagnosis.







Oh my, I thought I was the only one that as a kid picked at the chickenpox marks. I have a few leftover scars and also a few acne scars so it’s not great on the right side of my face. Is there a way to remove the chickenpox scars with those over the counter products? I don’t even know if I had the chickenpox shot because it was a long time ago and before they even had the mennigitis vaccine in kid’s immunization schedules.
Chickenpox and shingles can connect due to the fact that it’s same virus. My grandma got a shingles rash and has had nerve pain ever since. The herpes zoster was reactivated when her immune system was weak after having pneumonnia. She had to be careful that the blisters fluid wouldn’t be contacted by anyone.
