There are various types of lupus. Systemic Lupus Erthematosus is systemic, and affects the major organs of the body – the kidneys, lungs, and heart. Discoid lupus affects the skin. It is usually much milder than SLE but most often causes rashes on the skin and it tends to affect females from the age of 15 through 45 years old.
